Hey there, and welcome to Sericography!
I'm Seric, a travel photographer originally from northern California, with a specialization in landscapes and cityscapes. Sericography is a personal photography project to house my work from over the last several years travelling the world as a digital nomad. I have been taking photos for nearly half my life now. When I got my first smartphone as a teenager, I gravitated to the the camera featured. My photo roll was filled with snapshots of the classic fiery sunsets over grocery store parking lots and moody morning mist scenes on my walks to school. In university, I earned a bachelor's degree in Digital Arts & Design, where I took photography classes that laid the foundation for me to develop my skill. I bought my first DSLR, a Nikon d3100, during that time and have never been able to fully set it down ever since. However, these days I shoot on a Fujifilm X-T4.
Photography, for me, is above all about slowing down. It's a meditative practice that grounds me in the present moment, allowing me to focus on the details that make this world beautiful and let the madness of the world melt away. To capture the feeling of a place where words fall short.
In my adulthood, I've had the enormous privilege of working remotely which has afforded me the freedom to roam the world as I please — and that I have. My journeys have taken me to 40+ countries across oceans and over vast continents. I've covered ground on everything from the towering redwood groves of my homeland, through nearly every country in Latin America, to the rugged southern coast of Australia's Great Ocean Road. I am driven by curiosity and a passion for discovery. Along side my long love of photography, I am an avid outdoorsman, nature lover, a lifelong lover of learning and a perpetual student. Cultures, languages, geography, science, nature and history have always fascinated me. Today, my photography sits squarely at the intersection of all of these things.
I am incredibly grateful to have been able to experience all that I have and I am resolved to do something with it that not just benefits me, but shares in that success. Here I share my work, my experiences, the stories of the places I've wandered, and all the things I've learned along the way. More than that, I am resolute in my commitment to give back to the communities and the ecosystems that I've had the pleasure of getting to know along the way.
